How To Open Graphiqly Files in xTool Studio

This guide shows you how to extract your downloaded Graphiqly file, open the XCS file in xTool Studio, and check the engraving and cut settings before starting.

Extract First Download the Graphiqly file and extract the compressed folder before opening the design.

Use XCS First For xTool Studio, open the XCS file from the extracted folder.

Check Before Starting Review the image settings, cut settings, material, power, speed, focus, and bitmap mode before processing.

Important: Always extract the downloaded file first. For xTool Studio, start with the XCS file. You can also use SVG as a backup, or PNG if you only want to engrave the main image.

Find the file you downloaded

Go to your Downloads folder. The file you downloaded will usually look like a compressed file.

Simple meaning: The compressed file is like a box. You need to open the box first to see what is inside.

Right click the file

Right click the downloaded file. On Windows 11, you may need to click Show more options to see the extraction options.

Note: Some computers show Extract options right away. If you already see them, you can skip Show more options.

Don’t have extraction software? You can download 7-Zip or WinRAR to extract the downloaded .7z file.

Choose an extract option

You may see a few extract options. Any of them can work, but the cleanest option is usually Extract to folder name. This creates a new folder and keeps everything organized.

Best choice: Use the option that says Extract to the product name folder. This keeps the files together in one clean folder.

Open the new folder

After extraction, you will see a new folder next to the compressed file. Open that folder. This is where your ready to engrave files are.

For xTool Studio: Use the XCS file first. If needed, you can also use SVG or PNG.

Inside the extracted folder, find the XCS file. This is the xTool Studio file prepared for the software.

Best option: Use the XCS file first. If it does not open correctly, you can use the SVG file as a backup.

Review the settings overview

After the XCS file opens in xTool Studio, you should see the design on the canvas and the settings overview on the right side.

Do not press Process right away: First, click the setting you want to review and make sure the image and cut settings are correct for your machine and material.

Check the engraving settings

Select the main image settings. The image should be set to Engrave, and the bitmap mode should be set to Jarvis for the 3D illusion engraving.

Engraving layer: Adjust power, speed, passes, bitmap mode, and lines per cm based on your machine, material, and test results.

Select the cut layer

Go back to the settings overview and select the outline or cut layer. This is usually the layer used to cut the outside shape.

Cut layer: Review this layer separately so the outline does not accidentally engrave instead of cutting.

Make sure the outline layer is set to Cut if you want to cut the outer shape.

Important: Suggested settings are only a starting point. Your final settings can change depending on your xTool machine, laser head, wattage, material, focus, and finish. Always run a small test first.

Which file should you use?

Graphiqly downloads usually include multiple formats. For xTool Studio, these are the main options to know.

XCS Best option for xTool Studio. Start with this file when available.

SVG Backup option if the XCS file does not open correctly or if you prefer importing manually.

PNG Use this if you only want to engrave the main image without using the full prepared layout.

Common Questions

Why can’t I open the downloaded file directly?

Because the downloaded file is compressed. Extract it first, then open the XCS file inside the folder.
